St Ronan, d. 737, Bute. Abbot of Kingarth, Bute.  Associate or soul mate of St Modan, with whom he may often have been a neighbour as they were said to seek solitude within proximity to each other.  Many dedications to Ronan on lonely spots and distant isles.  The parish church on Iona was dedicated to Ronan.
