St Moluag, (Lua, Luan, Murlach, Lugaidh), 520-592.  As late as 1544 a charter of the Earl of Argyll identifies Moluag as a patron of Argyll. He was a hugely important associate of Columba.  Whilst Columba worked among the Celts, Moluag worked among the Picts. Columba settled on Iona, Moluag on Lismore.

Trained at Bangor and went on to found 100 monastic settlements in Ireland and Scotland.  Settled in Clachan, Kintyre and, especially at Lismore, which was to become the seat of the Bishop of Argyll & the Isles.  Also associated with the Black Isle.

St Moluag was the first bishop of Argyll & the Isles. The oldest church in Lewis and Harris is named after him.

He died at Rossmarkie on the Moray Firth on June 25th 592.
