St Molios                               April 18th

St Molios (Laserian, Lash, Molio,) d.639.  Originally from Ireland, he spent his early childhood in Scotland before going to Ireland for formal education.  He returned to Scotland seeking sanctity and solitude on the Holy Isle off Arran.  He went to Rome and was ordained.  He returned again to Ireland and promoted the Roman liturgical ways as Abbot of Leighlin.

On the Holy Isle, now the home of Buddhists, his cave can be found, along with a rocky ledge known as St Molio’s bed.  A well that bears his name is also said to have miraculous powers.  Lamlash on Arran may be connected to him.
