St Flannan                                      December 18th

An Irishman who came to the islands to the west of Lewis some time in the 7^th century.

On the largest of these seven Flannan Isles is the chapel believed to have been associated with him.  The islands are viewed with superstitious veneration today, perhaps connected to the story of the three Light House Keepers who went inexplicably missing there in 1900.
