*St Cumin February 25th
St Cumin (Cumine the Fair), d. 669. He was the 7th Abbot of Iona and was renowned for his holiness and learning.
He was the Abbot during the Synod of Whitby and wrote his Life of Columba (said to be the basis of Adamnan’s “Life”) partly to restate the great saint’s primacy after Columba’s cherished Celtic dating for Easter was quashed by Whitby. He also wrote a letter on the Easter issue.
He is associated with Kilchuimein - the ancient name for Fort Augustus and for an area near Bourblach in the Blessed Morar parish, where the church is named after him.
