St Chattan May 17th
St Chattan, d.710, (Cathan) was an Irish bishop who settled for most of his life on Bute and was influential around the Oban area, where his name survives (Ardchattan on Loch Ettive and Kilchattan at Luing).
The Trinity Temple at Carinish, North Uist was built on his chapel and the original parish church in Stornoway was dedicated to him. there is a well on Colonsay bearing the name of Chattan.
